D01 Arrive Lhasa

On arrival, meet our guide and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day free to acclimatize to high altitude.

D02 Potala Palace Barkhor Market Jokhang Monastery ( B+L )

Visit the Lhasa's best-known landmark, the Potala Palace. Comprised of the White Palace and Red Palace, the Potala Palace was first built in 7th century AD by Songtsen Gampo and rebuilt in 1642 by the 5th Dalai Lama.

Stroll along the bustling Barkhor Market which is located in the old city. After lunch, visit the Jokhang Temple. Built in 7th century, the Jokhang Monastery is the oldest wooden-and-stone structure in Tibet and also one of the Tibet's holiest temples. Transfer back to your hotel.

D03 Drepung Monastery Norbu Lingka Tibet Family ( B+L )

Highlights this morning is Drepung Monastery which is 8km west of Lhasa. The monastery was once the largest one in Tibet and it is now home to 700 monks. Followed with a short visit to a Tibetan Family.

After lunch, visit the Norbu Lingka. Built in 1751, the Norbu Lingka was the summer residence of the Dalai Lama.

D04 Lhasa - Yomdrok Lake - Tashilhunpo Monastery - Shigatse ( 355km ) ( B+L )

Take a 4 hrs drive to Shigatse, some 355 km away to Lhasa. Shigatse is an ancient cultural city dates back more than 500 years ago. On the way, pay a visit to Yomodrok Lake.
Yomdrok Lake is located to the south of Yarlong Tsangpo River in the Shannan Region of Tibet. The lake is one of three holy lakes in Tibet. It has an area of about 638 square kilometers with a length of 130 kilometers and a width of 70 kilometers. The It is a deep lake with the average depth of 20-40 meters and the deepest place is about 60 meters below the surface.

After lunch, visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery. The monastery was first built in 1447 by Gedun Truppa, subsequently honored as the first Dalai Lama.
Tashilhunpo Monastery is one of the 6 big monasteries of Gelugpa (or often called Yellow Hat Sect) in Tibet. The temple lies at the foot of Drolmari (Tara's Mountain), Shigatse. First built the First Dailai Lama in 1447, the temple's structure was repaired and expanded a by the Fourth and successive Panchen Lamas. There are now nearly 800 lamas.

D05 Shigatse ~ Lhasa New Palace of Panchen ( B+L )

Visit the New Palace of Panchen in the morning.
New Palace of Panchen lies to south of the Tashilhupo Monastery. It is famous as the summer palace of the tenth Panchen Lama (1938-1989). It greatly mixes both traditional and modern architectural styles. Green plants cover the palace, making a natural and peaceful environment.

After lunch, take a 4 hrs drive back to Lhasa.
